the item i received was not as expected. panel does non seem to be made from “monochrystalline silicone, but from inexpensive poly chrystalline material.
consequently, current output seems only adequate to maintain a motor cycle seize
battery. also the cigarette adapter had a bad diode which prevented proper
    operation.

Excellent product and glad I purchase it. Keeps the car battery fully charged at all times, may not need to by another battery at least for a long time.

Seems well made and does supply some juice. Very little. A tiny trickle to keep a decent battery in a parked car from dying. Make sure it’s pointed as directly at the sun at midday as possible.

It is in two parts, the panel and a voltage regulator. You could hook the panel directly to your battery and get a little more juice out of it since the regulator wastes some. But warning, a direct link might let it act as a drain at night, haven’t tested it.

The solar panel arrived shattered. The manufacturer’s original packaging is not sufficient for shipping without significant added padding by Amazon. I returned the first and requested a replacement. I’ll see if it arrive intact.

This unit works great. We had run the battery down on our motor home that starts the generator. We hooked up the Sunforce 50022 and let it charge for three hours. We were then able to start the gererator. Life is good.

Backstory: I wanted something that was cheap and could extend my iPhone’s battery life when I go camping during long weekends. This one won out due to the nifty cradle it came with for my car which is fantastic.

Charging: It took about 5 days in cloudy weather to charge this bugger’s battery to full. This is fine, I do not camp every weekend but do not expect to be charging anything for at least five days if you want to just use solar power. If you use the wall charger it is meer hours and you have a battery full of delicious energy. The LED charge indicators are very nice as is the LED indicators for when it is soaking up sunlight and when it is dealing out some energy.

Battery: It charged my iPhone 3gs from 0% to about 35% which is good enough for me and charged at a similar rate to plugging my phone into a wall socket or computer

Durability: I take this camping with me and so far it has held up nicely. I have not dropped it but the build is good enough that if you did I cannot imagine it breaking immediately. It does scratch easily.

Conclusion: If you want a robust full featured solar solution for your gadgetry this is not for you. You will have to spend much much more. This product is for occasional use to give you an extra boost in battery life for whatever you can connect into the USB plug.

Item does not come close to doing what it says it will do. Went camping with it and was sitting in the direct sun and had phone plugged into it. After 5 minutes it stops charging.

I had the same problem as a previous reviewer: this solar battery charger will not charge my Motorola Karma. I didn’t test it with any other devices because I bought it primarily to charge my Karma so I could use my Trimble Outdoors app on a week-long backpacking trip. Hopefully I’ll be able to find another device that can charge my phone so we don’t get lost in the woods! Other than that, the device appears to have solid construction and would probably do a fine job of charging things that aren’t my cell phone based on other reviews.

This is very light weight, great for back packing. It has an internal battery that will hold a charge into the night and charge between 20-40% of the phone battery on the internal battery alone. If you plug it into the phone in full sunlight, it will charge the phone completely. You can hook it to the top of a back pack and run the normal usb to iphone charging cord to your pocket and charge it while you hike. It also has a cord that you can charge the internal battery by plugging it into the iphone charger brick to fully charge quickly. You can plunger it your windshield or sunroof with provided holder in the sunlight to charge. It can charge other usb devices as well, such as blue tooth earpieces and headsets. For only $20, it’s a great buy.

Bought this and charged it with sunlight. Then charged my Iphone from 40% to full charge in 20 minutes! This is going in my storm supply kit — hurricane season is almost here!!!

When fully charged it only boosted my cell battery by 5%. Takes a while to recover it’s charge in full sunlight.

Bought this recharger due to its solar cell capabilities. What they don’t tell you upfront is that you have to expose the device for one hour under the sun to get 4-5 minutes of phone talk.

I purchased this product as an accessory for my GPS and Blackberry while backpacking cross-country for multiple days. The information says it is compatible with the Blackberry, but it does not appear to be. I fully charged the LenMar and have had my Blackberry Storm sitting on the charger for the lsat four hours. The phone still will not turn on due to an empty battery.

I have had the device replaced once by Amazon and once by the manufacturer. Neither replacement worked. Do not buy this product.

I have an old vehicle I use for junk runs and backup when regular car is in for repair. After sitting for two months I need to recharge the battery. This should keep it charged. I will know the next time I use the vehicle.

This is a great little maintenance charger and will help keep a less frequently used battery topped off and ready. I am on my second one, and obviously liked the first one enough to replace it with another. My first one died after an unceremonious fall to the concrete floor but it worked great up until that point.

The main downside to this charger is the non-standard wiring with regards to the SAE plugs. It’s an accepted standard with SAE that the positive line coming off the battery have the shielded terminal. This is done to eliminate the risk of a short circuit if the terminal ends touch the vehicle chassis. Eliminating a possible short circuit is a priority on the battery side, where risk of fire and/or explosion is inherently greater than on the charger side. The charger and accompanying accessories are wired in opposition to this standard. In truth, if you only use this charging device, and take care when using the alligator clips, it would probably never be an issue. If you have any other real charging devices that use SAE plugs, you will need to pay special attention to what you are plugging into what. I, personally, just rewire the charger and both of the included attachment devices, thereby eliminating the possibility of an accident based on incompatible wiring.

Bought this for a car that I keep at a vacation home and works perfect! The vehicle is only driven a few weekends out of the year so the battery would always be run down when I arrived. The car sits in a parking garage that is open on the sides and even that small amount of sunlight is enough to keep it charged. Amazing. Love it. I’ve had it for about 6 months now and both times I’ve been there since Ive installed it it has started perfectly. I do recommend hooking it up to the battery and not the cigarette lighter because I guess in my car when the car is off so is the lighter.

The construction seems solid enough, but be warned it’s not intended to be mounted outside in the weather. Mount it on your dashboard under the windshield.

The current produced is extremely small. You WILL NOT charge a battery in a day or 2 with this panel. It says “Maintainer”, and that’s what it is. It will only provide enough power to keep a battery from going bad. Just for fun, I hooked it up to a small electric motor and 4 wheels, and at high noon with no cloud cover it couldn’t even move itself.
