Home Solar Panels Significant Info

My only problem with the product is that it came with a rocker switch instead of the pull chain shown in the picture and my wife is unable to reach the lights to turn them on. I bought two and installed them in a large shed (10′ x 14′) and they give off a fair amount of light. I still need a flashlight for some areas but was not expecting it to be any better.

On one hand there is the increasing costs of energy bills and on the other hand there is the issue of saving the environment. Both these issues are interlinked to each other and play a huge part in our lives. It is due to these two facts that most owners of homes are looking for alternative means to power their homes. Their problems are resolved by using home solar panels that permit them to harness the free power of sunlight and convert the same into free electricity. Not free exactly since you have to pay the initial price for the solar panels, but after that you do not have to pay anything as long as there are no special bills that will charge you for using sunlight.
Users of electricity all over the world know that the costs of power are increasing every year and a time will come when they shall no longer be able to afford electricity current for their day-to-day uses. Think of your kitchen Home Solar Panels and the gas or oil powered ovens you are using. The costs of gas and oil too will increase, since there are limited reserves of these natural fuels left. The only way to avoid monetary crunch is by employing solar cells that will permit you to use as much electricity that you want without spending any money for the same. No doubt, the batteries that are used to store the power generated by these cells have a limited life, but if you consider the savings on your power bill, it is peanuts.
Just visit any store that deals in these photovoltaic panels or check out any site on the Internet that sells them and you will find that they are extremely cheap. Make a small calculation and you will find that these cells pay of for themselves in just a few months of use. The government too is encouraging usage of photovoltaic cells and is providing tax relief and other sops to those who are planning to install and use these environment friendly sources of power. Most such panels are also available in kit form and installing them is quite easy. If you have a basic knowledge of soldering then you can easily set up one such panel. However, if you are not familiar with soldering irons, you can purchase a pre-configured panel that should not cost you more than $3000 and that will take care of your domestic electric requirements.
Check out your recent power bills and you will realize that the home solar panels will pay off for themselves in a short period of time. It is high time you prepared yourself for the power source of the future and ensured that you are not left in the lurch. The days are not far away when using alternative sources of power shall remain the only alternative. It does not cost too much to assemble such a power plant and you will be proud of the fact that you have set up your own power plant.

It is not anything but a toy. It cannot be made water tight as it is.
At best an over priced toy worth 5 dollars.
The directions are more complicated and involved for this project than I thought they would be. I have not tried to install the attic solar fan.

Having read reviews that the fluorescent bulb was dim, I was careful to purchase the LED model. However, it is also dim. Barely produces enough light to keep me from tripping in my shed, not enough to distinguish tools and definitely not a work light. Very disappointing. After several days of charging I turned it on and only 4 of the 5 LEDs lit. I did not purchase from Amazon. Went in round and round discussions with retailer and manufacturer about warranty replacement. Retailer would only replace if whole unit returned within 30 days, but after all the trouble to mount solar panel on roof I didn’t want to take that down. Turns out there is no warranty. Product guide says to consult retailer for warranty service, retailer says they don’t do it. Finally got a replacement but was not refunded shipping and insurance. If you do purchase this product, my advice is to charge it up before mounting anything to test it.
Worked for a couple days, but not anymore. Less than a month, perhaps being on for a total of 10 minutes.
I charged it before using it. It gets plenty of sunlight, but the battery seems to be junk.
There might be other solar lights that will work for you, but perhaps a simple flashlight/lantern would work better. At least when the battery dies, you can replace it.
Useless. The amount of light it gives off is less than those little LED Sylvania button lights. Obviously, this isn’t going to give sufficent light for even the smallest 40 square foot sheds out there. A hand flashlight gives out a heck of a lot more light. Do yourself a favor and just buy a flashlight and leave it in the shed than to go through the trouble of buying this hunk of junk.
I purchased this charger in case of long term power outage (earthquake, ice storm, nuclear war, cap and trade-caused blackouts), with the intention of always having light by recharging AA batteries and using them in LED flashlights and lanterns.
I used this charger on Oct. 24 on a sunny day in central Illinois, on a pair of partially discharged NiMh 2400 maH batteries that read 1.2 volts. The charger brought them up to 1.36 volts quickly and showed them as fully charged. Impressed, I decided to purposely discharge a pair of AAs by running them in an incandescent flashlight. One battery read 0 volts and the other was at 1.0 volts and the filament of the bulb was just barely showing a red glow when I put them in the charger. The charger accurately diagnosed them as very low and started recharging them in a trickle mode. One trip to Walmart later, (1-2 hours total charge time) and both batteries were right at 1.36 V. I also ran a separate 4-pack of partially discharged batteries and they were charged fully in 1 hour.
Based on this small experience sample, I am very happy with this product, as it surpassed the charging times on the box on a sunny day, even in late fall, with the sun very low in the sky at mid-day.
I also feel the build quality of the product is high, based on first impressions only.
This charger is also very small, folding up into a box smaller and thinner than I expected. It also comes with a 4-pack of the excellent low-discharge Sanyo Eneloop batteries, which are a $8-10 dollar value.
It also has grommets to make it easy to use string or cord to affix it to a backpack or tie it down in windy conditions. I am planning on making a set of copper wire supports that can be used like tent stakes to hold this charger in place on flat ground or to prop it up to get true perpendicularity to the sun to maximize the energy capture.
In summary, I love this charger and highly recommend it.
Used it yesterday for the first time to charge 4 Eneloop AAs. Put it in the window, came back 6 or so hours later to find them fully charged!
Folds up nicely. Has velcro to keep it tightly wrapped when not in use, and several metal grommets for securing with 550 cord.
I recently purchased this charger’s cousin, the Powerfilm USB / AA Solar Charger, and was so impressed with that one that I decided to get this one, too. I was not disappointed; this one is just as high quality as the USB version, only it trades 2 AAs for a USB charging device. These are without a doubt the best small AA-type chargers I have ever used (I’ve been though about a half dozen). These are ideal for either power outages of those trips in the wild where you will be without civilization for awhile. Truly wallet-sized, yet can keep your AAs going until they finally die on you.
Well worth the money.
It really works great. I use it a light our staircase going to the basement. I run line outside and put the solar panel on a pole use U brackets i pick up from lowes. The U bracket are the one with nuts on them. The light is bright. I also use Velco to mount it to the wall so don’t wont to put holes in the wall. Ok About the L bracket i email the company the said this. ” Thank you for contacting us. The L bracket can be used as a clamp mount if you do not have an area to do a drill mount. If you would like some help understanding how to use that bracket you can contact our Parts and Service Department at 425-637-9601 M-F 8-4:30 Pacific time. ” I’m think of buying more of them. Would have been nice if the light had a timer on it.
hope my review helps you and other ways you can use it.
I chose this product because of the multiple LED bulbs. Not as bright as I thought it would be. It does provide plenty of cord for preferential placement. Only recommended to provide minor relief from total darkness.
